"Die drei Soldaten waren auf ihrer Flucht unter einen Birnbaum gekommen, wo der eine in der Not ausrief: 'Ich wollte, da uns der Teufel holte ' Worauf der Teufel sogleich erschien, den Vertrag mit ihnen abschlo und sie aus ihrer Lage befreite. Sie mu ten nun ein Jahr in der H lle bleiben, bis die Zeit kam, wo ihnen der Teufel die R tsel vorlegen sollte; doch durften sie zuweilen in der Gegend spazieren gehen. Dem Lucifer (der stets zur ckbleibt und nur die Teufel, seine Boten, aussendet) war aber gleichfalls nicht wohl dabei zu Mute, er dachte: der Teufel legt den Kerlen keine rechte R tsel vor und wird von ihnen geprellt.
