Review
"A remarkable and unique contribution to the scientific analysis, diagnosis, and treatment of the anxiety disorders. He assesses the strengths and weaknesses of diverse approaches that range from phenomenological to biochemical and he successfully integrates the reliable findings from these sources. Far more than any other work on the topic, this one integrates the theory and rapidly growing body of basic research on emotions. This helps make the book a solid scientific treatise and a state-of-art work for understanding, treating, and preventing anxiety disorders. This volume is likely to become a landmark for clinical researchers and practitioners."

"Like its predecessor, this book is truly an impressive accomplishment. Barlow, a world expert in the etiology and treatment of anxiety disorders, has integrated cutting-edge theory and research into a single presentation that is both wide in scope and precise in focus. While penetrating in its analysis, the book is also highly readable. Researchers, clinical practitioners, and students of all levels will find it an invaluable resource for understanding both the nature of anxiety as a human experience, and the way it manifests itself in specific disorders.
