Synopsis
Carl Otfried M ller war ein deutscher Altphilologe und gilt dar ber hinaus als einer der Begr nder der Klassischen Arch ologie. 1840 verstarb M ller in Folge einer Hirnentz ndung, die er sich beim stundenlangen Kopieren von Inschriften in der Sonne Delphis zugezogen hatte. Sein Tod gilt als um so tragischer, da M ller unterwegs war, Material f r sein Lebenswerk, eine Historie Griechenlands, zu sammeln. Adolf Sch ll war einer der Reisegef hrten M llers. Die von ihm hier ver ffentlichten Notizen sind Ausz ge aus M llers letzten Aufzeichnungen. Sorgsam setzt Sch ll die Fragmente M llers zu einem Ganzen zusammen, wobei er den Schwerpunkt auf Monumentenkunde und Chorographie legt. Sorgf ltig bearbeiteter Nachdruck der Originalausgabe von 1843.
