Synopsis
This book presents the research results carried on the metallic artefacts from the British HMS Swift, lost off Puerto Deseado (Province of Santa Cruz, Argentina) in 1770. The artefacts are classified typologically and in terms of their physiochemical characteristics, manufacturing processes and technological adaptations to the maritime environment are analysed, as well as evidence relating to technological innovation, repair and recycling of artefacts. The results are compared with those from other contemporary British naval contexts.

This book presents the research results carried on the metallic artifacts from the British HMS Swift, lost off Puerto Deseado (Province of Santa Cruz, Argentina) in 1770. The shipwreck - located 47 45' 12'' South, 65 54' 57'' West - was found by local divers and has been the subject of archaeological study since 1997.
