Tadem, Ed. Artistic Fitness: 50 Quick Exercises To Shape Up Your Drawing Skills. Walter Foster. 2008. c.176p. illus. ISBN 978-1-60058-132-8. spiral. $14.95. ART INSTRUCTION
This small, fun, accessible book of drawing projects targets beginners or intermediate artists who need a simple review. The "artistic fitness" referred to in the title is a bit misleading, but it needn’t detract from the book’s value as an inexpensive, spiral-bound volume from which anyone interested in art can benefit. The 50 short exercises, two or four pages long, cover animals and people, fantasy creatures, food and drink, and still life; there is plenty to dip into for quick moments of drawing practice. A good buy for most public libraries.
