Synopsis
Der schleswig-holsteinische Grenzort B chen war Durchgangsstation f r die Heimkehrer- und Aussiedlertransporte der 1950er Jahre und ab Mitte der 1960er Jahre zentrales Drehkreuz f r Millionen Interzonenreisende. Die Betreuung des Interzonenverkehrs im Kalten Krieg wurde zu einem besonderen Aspekt deutsch-deutscher Nachbarschaftspolitik. Das karitative Wirken der Bahnhofsmissionen an den Grenzbahnh fen lag im intentionalen Schnittpunkt des Ministeriums f r innerdeutsche Beziehungen und der Bonner Sozialpolitik. 1956 waren die Bahnhofsmissionen in der DDR verboten worden. Die BRD-Politik hingegen zielte darauf ab, die DDR-Reisenden als Ausdruck einer systemantagonistischen Abgrenzungskonkurrenz zu ihren Adressaten zu machen.
Dieses Buch richtet den Blick auf die verschiedenen Facetten der zeithistorischen Bedeutung der Bahnhofsmissionen w hrend der deutschen Teilung. Vor allem die Bahnhofsmission B chen schaffte es, durch das besondere Engagement der dort t tigen Helferinnen und Helfer den ansonsten mit Bedr ckung und ngsten besetzten Grenz bergang zu einem Ort der Begegnung und der menschlichen Zuwendung werden zu lassen.
