This book comprises a selection of state-of-the-art papers which were presented at the 2012 Malta conference of the European Association of University Lecturers in Banking and Finance, otherwise known as the Wolpertinger Conference. It includes the latest research on important topics such as bank performance, banking risk, securitisation, bank stability, sovereign debt and derivatives.

About the Author
Joseph Falzon is Head of the Department of Banking and Finance, and Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy at the University of Malta, Malta. He is the author of several local and foreign publications and of numerous papers on the Maltese economy. He has served as a consultant to several organizations including the Malta Tourism Authority, the Bank of Valletta, the Central Bank of Malta, the Office of Fair Competition, Enemalta, the Housing Authority and the Chamber of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (GRTU). He serves on the Executive Committee of the European Association of University Lecturers in Banking and Finance. His research interests include hedge fund strategies, portfolio management, trading futures strategies, micro finance, and economic development.
