Synopses & Reviews
Sarasa and her new friend Hayato arrive in Kyushu only to find that Sakura Island has disappeared! To make things worse, they are immediately captured by pirates who plan to sell them off as slaves. On the pirate ship, they meet Chacha, the spirited female captain, and Zaki, her devoted first mate--and reunite with Old Kaku, whom Sarasa had feared dead. He had become part of the crew in expectation of her arrival. Sarasa proposes a duel with Chacha to convince her of her capacity as a fighter, and manages to force it into a draw. There is no time to celebrate the new partnership, however, as their ship is found by the treacherous Shojos. They also find themselves trapped between Shido's fearsome Navy and Army. In the future, an apocalypse all but destroys the world, making Japan a pretechnological desert wasteland where fierce kings use murder and destruction to keep the terrified peasantry in line. When Tatara, the prophesied "Child of Destiny," is murdered, his twin sister Sarasa must face the Red King--and the possibility of yet another apocalypse.
