Als wichtigster nichtmettalisch-anorganischer Baustoff wird Beton in Band 2 dieses vierbändigen Werkes am ausführlichsten behandelt. Gegenüber fast allen anderen Baustoffen hat er den Vorteil, daß er fast unbegrenzt eingesetzt und gestaltet und vom Verwender selbst seinen Anforderungen ensprechend hergestellt werden kann. Die Herstellung in einem Betonwerk bzw. die Herstellung oder die Verarbeitung auf der Baustelle, meist im Verantwortungsbereich eines Bauingenieurs, bedarf jedoch besonderer Kenntnisse der Betoneigenschaften, ihrer Beeinflussung und ihrer Wirkung. In den ersten drei Kapiteln werden die Ausgangsstoffe (Bindemittel, Zuschlag und Zusätze) behandelt. Die verschiedenen Anwendungsformen werden in den Kapiteln Frischbeton, Festbeton und Leichtbeton beschrieben. Im Stahlbetonbau sind in den letzten Jahrzehnten in größerem Umfang Mängel aufgetreten, ein eigenes Kapitel wird deshalb der Dauerhaftigkeit gewidmet. Der Abschnitt Mörtel leitet zum zweiten wichtigen nichtmetallisch-anorganishen Stoff, dem Mauerwerk, über, der durch die umfangreiche Forschung über Festigkeits- und Verformungseigenschaften inzwischen zu einem ingenieurmäßig behandelten Baustoff geworden ist. Das Gesamtwerk "Baustoffe für tragende Bauteile" besteht aus folgenden, thematisch jeweils abgeschlossenen Bänden: Band 1: Grundlagen (Baustoffkenngrößen, Meß- und Prüftechnik, Statistik und Qualitätssicherung) Band 2: Beton, Mauerwerk (nichtmetallische-anorganische Stoffe) Band 3: Stahl, Aluminium (metallische Stoffe) Band 4: Holz und Kunststoffe (organische Stoffe)
Synopsis
Der zweite Band behandelt die nichtmetallisch-anorganischen Baustoffe, von denen der Beton und das Mauerwerk fur tragende Bauteile wichtig sind. Die ubrigen Baustoffe dieser Gruppe werden nur in geringem Umfange konstuktiv eingesetzt, so z.B. der Naturstein in der Denkmalpflege und das Glas im Glasstahlbetonbau. Lediglich Decken- und Mauerziegel sind fur tragende Bauteile bei Stahlsteindecken und Mauerwerk von grosserer Bedeutung. Letztere werden daher im Teil E kurz besprochen. Neben und zusammen mit Stahl ist Beton heute der wichtigste Baustoff. Gegenuber fast allen anderen Baustoffen hat er den Vorteil, dass er fast unbegrenzt eingesetzt und gestaltet und vom Verwender selbst seinen Anforderungen entsprechend zielsi cher hergestellt werden kann. Im letzten Jahrzehnt sind im Stahlbetonbau in grosserem Umfang Mangel aufgetre ten, die allerdings weniger auf Baustoffehier, sondern im wesentlichen auf Planungs und Ausfuhrungsfehler zuruckzufuhren sind. Da diese zum Teil aber auch auf mangelnden Baustoffkenntnissen beruhen, wurde der Dauerhaftigkeit in Teil D8 noch mehr Raum gewidmet. Sie wurde in der Vergangenheit gegenuber der Druck festigkeit zu sehr vernachlassigt und muss in Zukunft starker berucksichtigt werden. Der Teil D wurde in dieser Auflage ubersichtlicher strukturiert. Den Betonzusatzen wurde wegen der steigenden Bedeutung ein eigener Teil D3 mit den Abschnitten Zusatzstoffe und Zusatzmittel gewidmet. Der fruhere Teil Normalbeton wurde in die Teile D4 Frischbeton, DS Festbeton und D6 Besondere Betone gegliedert."

Neben und zusammen mit Stahl ist Beton heute der wichtigste Baustoff. Seine Herstellung und Verwendung wird deshalb hier am ausf hrlichsten dargestellt. Beton ist fast unbegrenzt einsetz- und gestaltbar und kann vom Anwender seinen Anforderungen entsprechend selbst hergestellt werden. Hierzu bedarf es allerdings besonderer Kenntnisse der Eigenschaften von Beton, ihrer Beeinflussung und ihrer Wirkung.
Die Neubearbeitung von Band 2 des vierb ndigen Werkes Baustoffe f r tragende Bauteile behandelt die nichtmetallisch-anorganischen Stoffe, also vor allem Beton, M rtel und Mauerwerk.
In mehreren Abschnitten werden die Betonarten, z.B. Schwer- und Leichtbeton, vorgestellt und ihre Zusammensetzung sowie ihre besonderen Eigenschaften w hrend des Einbaus und bei der Erh rtung beschrieben. Ein eigenes Kapitel ist dem M rtel gewidmet, der sich in der Zusammensetzung nur durch die verwendete Korngr e vom Beton unterscheidet. Im Kapitel ber Mauerwerk, dem anderen wichtigen nichtmetallisch-anorganischen Baustoff, werden vor allem die Festigkeits- und Verformungseigenschaften behandelt. Neueste technische Entwicklungen, aktuelle Normen und Vorschriften wurden bei der Neubearbeitung ber cksichtigt.

About the Author
o. Prof. em. Dr.-Ing. Karlhans Wesche war von 1961 bis 1985 ordentlicher Professor für Baustoffkunde und Direktor des Instituts für Bauforschung der RWTH Aachen. Er war Gutachter im baustofflichen Bereich im Zusammenhang mit Bauphysik und Baukonstruktion und arbeitete in zahlreichen nationalen und internationalen Ausschüssen auf den Gebieten Bindemittel, Zusatzstoffe, Zusatzmittel, Normalbeton, Leichtbeton, Gasbeton, Mauerwerk, Betonstahl, Kunststoffe und Materialprüfung mit. Seit 1985 ist er am Forschungs- und Entwicklungsprojekt "Erhaltung von Kulturdenkmälern aus Naturstein" beteiligt. Von 1991 bis 1992 war er Gründungsdirektor der Materialforschungs- und -prüfanstalt Weimar.
