Synopsis
WML, or the Wireless Markup Language, is to the mobile phone what HTML is to the web browser. Based on XML and designed specially to take into account factors such as a small screen, low resolution, and low bandwidth, WML will allow mobile phone and pager users 'multimedia capabilities'-the ability to access e-mail, information, and services from the Internet via their wireless device.
There is growing support for WAP (the Wireless Application Protocol), from almost every major communications company (Nokia, Ericsson, Microsoft, IBM, Cellnet, Siemens, etc), and the use of WAP browser-enabled products - such as the Nokia 7110 mobile phone - is growing rapidly.
