About the Author
Jabari Asim is a visiting scholar at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and a recent recipient of the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship. He has written for the Washington Post and has published critically-acclaimed serious adult nonfiction. He lives in Urbana, IL, with his wife and five children.
LeUyen (pronounced Lay-win) Pham was born in Saigon, Vietnam and grew up in Southern California. She attended the Art Center College of Design and worked as a layout artist for Dreamworks before illustrating children's books full-time. She lives in San Francisco with her husband and baby boy.
