Synopses & Reviews
The Golden Gate Bridge is the most famous bridge in the world. It is also, not entirely coincidentally, the worldand#8217;s only bright-orange bridge. But it wasnand#8217;t supposed to be that way.
In this book, fellow bridge-lovers Dave Eggers and Tucker Nichols tell the story of how it happenedand#151;how a bridge that some people wanted to be red and white, and some people wanted to be yellow and black, and most people wanted simply to be gray, instead became, thanks to the vision and stick-to-itiveness of a few peculiar architects, one of the most memorable man-made objects ever created.
Told with playful paper cut-outs and irresistible prose, This Bridge Will Not Be Gray is a joyful history lesson in picture-book formand#151;a gorgeously crafted story that teaches us how beauty and inspiration tend to come from the most unexpected places. Sometimes you have to fight for what you believe in, even if itand#8217;s just a color.

Synopsis
The story of how San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge did not become just another grey bridge.
Synopsis
This Bridge Will Not Be Gray is the story of how in 1928 it was decided to build a bridge, a bridge spanning the distance between San Francisco and the North Bay across the Pacific Ocean. A bridge that has become one of the most visited and one of the most photographed man made objects in the world. It is of course also the story of how San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge could not just become another gray bridge. Tucker Nichols supplies the torn paper collage that beautifully illustrates Dave Eggers' story.
