About the Author
Maureen Heffernan is the Director of Public Programs at the Cleveland Botanical Garden. Formerly, she was the Education Director at the American Horticultural Society. Holly H. Shimizu is the Supervisory Horticulturist and Assistant Executive Director of the United States Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C. She has a range of experience working for arboretums throughout Europe and was formerly Curator of the Herb Garden for the National Arboretum in Washington, D.C. Chela R. Kleiber is the Acting Director of the Arboretum of the Barnes Foundation in Merion, Pennsylvania. Formerly, she was a Horticulturist for W. Atlee Burpee & Co. Dr. Allan Armitage has written hundreds of articles for magazines including Horticulture and Fine Gardening. He is the author of six books, most recently Ornamental Bedding Plant Production and Allan Armitage on Perennials, part of the Burpee Expert Gardener Series. He lives in Athens, Georgia.
