Excerpt from By-Laws of the Massachusetts General Hospital: With the Rules and Regulations Established by the Board of Trustees for the Government of the Asylum for the Insane in Charlestown, and the Hospital in Boston
They shall cause a fair record of all their doings to be kept, which shall he laid before the Corporation at every meeting thereof; and at every annual meeting they shall make a written report on the Treasurer's accounts, and on the general state of the Institution, comprising a statement of the number of patients admitted and discharged during the year at each department, - an inventory of all the real and personal property of the Corporation in each depart ment, and an account of the receipts and expenditures in each department; and for this purpose they shall, at some' meeting in the month of December, appoint a Committee of the Board.
