In 1982, Lady Bird Johnson and the late actress Helen Hayes founded the National Wildflower Research Center in Austin, Texas. The Center settled into a wide meadow southeast of Austin. The staff studied plants, pollinators, and regional ecosystems, provided information and referral services, and taught thousands about North America's native plants. In 1995, the Center moved to the edge of the Balcones Escarpment. In 1998, the Center was renamed in honor of its founder and chair, Lady Bird Johnson, and rededicated as The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Today the Center serves North America by promoting the preservation and use of native plants through programs, Information and referral services, and by example. BrownTrout is honored to present Wildflowers and Wildflowers Engagement in conjunction with the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
