Synopsis
Na tradi o hist rica da pr tica do desterro de presos pol ticos para os destinos insulares, encontramos o fundamento e a defini o da ideia de ilha como espa o adequado para o banimento dos condenados. Mais do que dar continuidade ao desterro, o modelo repressivo do Estado Novo estrutura de forma met dica a pr tica da deporta o pol tica dos seus opositores, sob a l gica repressiva do desterro e pris o no local do mesmo. O presente trabalho traz-nos um mapeamento dos diferentes destinos de deporta o e pris o pol tica, centrado fundamentalmente nas ilhas onde ficaram celebrizadas a encena o e a materializa o desta pr tica, desde as refer ncias sobre a pris o para deportados pol ticos na ilha de S o Nicolau, at imposi o repressiva do Campo de Trabalho de Ch o Bom, na ilha de Santiago, na sequ ncia da contesta o anticolonial. Fortemente ancorado na descodifica o dos diferentes momentos e discursos que legitimavam esta pr tica pol tica, este estudo analisa a problem tica do desterro e da pris o no local de desterro como um dos dispositivos da grande pan plia repressiva do Estado Novo.
