Higonnet is Professor of English and Comparative Literature at the University of Connecticut and co-chair of the Gender Study Group at Harvard Universitys Centre for European Studies. William J. Spurlin is Professor of English and Director of the Centre for the Study of Sexual Dissidence & Cultural Change at the University of Sussex.
