I loved this book and taught it to a college class years ago. Loaned it to someone who never returned it. Want to read it again--I cite it often for its insights, maybe incorrectly after all this time. Mumford was way ahead of his time as an architectural critic, and as someone who anticipated the revolution technology was likely to bring about in our lives. A forerunner also in thinking about cities and the impact of the automobile. It's nice to see his books being reissued. About time.
