About the Author
Barbara Wise has planted many containers. As the Floriculture Director for the Southern Land Company and dubbed by her community as “The Flower Lady,” she has a job that involves planting with her staff around 700 containers each year for the homeowners and communities where she works. More than just knowing the plants, Barbara made it her objective to know her clients and fine-tune her plantings for each person to help each one become more successful as a gardener. Container gardening offered an opportunity to provide small victories, introduce new plant material, and stir a love within her clients for creating 365 days of botanical beauty around their homes. Creating container gardens that continue for months of enjoyment with little maintenance has become a hallmark of her work. Trained as a Master Gardener and driven by a desire to cultivate the culture of gardening that she grew up in, Barbara communicates to the beginning gardener how to start with a few well-planted containers and earn some confidence. She has watched as both the plants and a love for gardening have grown within her communities. A resident of middle Tennessee, Barbara has traveled around the country to share her love of container gardening and encourage the resurgence of gardening proficiency.
