About the Author
Dr. Elizabeth Reynolds Welfel has taught courses in professional ethics, counseling theory, research, and personality testing in the Counselor Education program at Cleveland State University for the last 17 years. Prior to that, she was a member of the counseling psychology faculty at Boston College. She has published extensively in counseling journals, and is the co-author of another Thomson Brooks/Cole book, THE COUNSELING PROCESS: A MULTITHEORETICAL INTEGRATIVE APPROACH, 6th Edition.Professor Emeritus Lewis Patterson taught counseling theory, career development, adult development and psychopharmacology at Cleveland State University, where he was director of doctoral studies in the College of Education. Dr. Patterson began his work as a counselor educator while a doctoral student at Pennsylvania State University, and served on the counseling faculty at Boston University before coming to Cleveland.
