About the Author
Margaret Mahy has written more than one hundred and fifty books for children and has won many awards. These include two Carnegie Medals (England's highest children's literary honor), as well as numerous citations from the American Library Association. Margaret Mahy lives in New Zealand with her dog, Baxter.
Sarah Garland is both a writer and an illustrator, and she has published more than forty books for children. The artist lives in a small village in the Cotswolds in England. She spends as much time as possible in New Zealand, where she first met Margaret Mahy and immediately became a fan.
