Synopsis
Unexploded ordinance is comprised of mines, shells and bombs, some of which have not exploded. This represents a serious danger on old battlefields and military test ranges. Cleanup of such areas is difficult and expensive, particularly since existing detection techniques, when set to high sensitivity, have a high false alarm rate due to other non-hazardous objects. Reviewing the unexploded ordnance problem, including mines and existing electromagnetic detection technology, this books gives a detailed treatment of target signatures (natural frequencies and related parameters) for identification and discrimination from false targets.
