Synopses & Reviews
Synopsis
Language evolves and adapts so quickly nowadays. Words that didn't exist 10 years ago, like Brexit, mansplain and hangry, now genuinely appear in dictionaries. They have evolved from being words that one person invented into words millions of people recognise and understand. They have been allocated a space in dictionaries because, through continued usage, they are now commonplace in society. Many new words are shortened ways of saying something. Combining words and shortening them saves time. Hangry is a mix of Hungry and Angry, for example. Saying someone is "hangry" saves a little bit of time compared to saying someone is "angry because they are hungry." It is more succinct. The Dictionewary is a list of words so new they have not yet been added to dictionaries, but which I encourage you to use for two main reasons; the fact that they are time-savingly succinct, and because they make language fun.
