Inhaltsangabe: Einleitung: Computer gestutzte und automatisierte Formen des Wertpapierhandels haben in den letzten Jahren auf den internationalen Finanzmarkten zunehmend an Bedeutung gewonnen, wobei folgender Grundsatz zu beachten ist: Solide Handelsprogramme erzielen langfristig und konsistent Gewinne. Diese Aussage impliziert, dass durch Anwendung der technischen Wertpapieranalyse und bei systematischer Auswahl geeigneter Strategien nachhaltig positive Renditen erzielt werden konnen. Davon abgeleitete objektive Entscheidungsregeln sorgen zudem fur Transparenz und dienen als Handelsanleitung fur Investoren. Der entsprechenden Umsetzung von technischen Analysemethoden in der Praxis steht allerdings die menschliche Wahrnehmung, Verarbeitung und Bewertung einzelner Informationen entgegen. Eine Vielzahl von empirischen Studien und Untersuchungen belegen, dass grundlegende Annahmen der modernen Finanzmarkttheorie nicht mit dem realen Investorenverhalten korrespondieren. Vielmehr handeln Marktteilnehmer unsystematisch bzw. irrational statt ihren jeweiligen Nutzen zu maximieren und somit dem Homo oeconomicus-Modell zu folgen. Aktuelle Erkenntnisse der verhaltenswissenschaftlichen Analyse von Kapitalmarkten - nachfolgend subsumiert unter dem Begriff Behavioral Finance" - setzen sich mit den Ursachen irrationaler Entscheidungen auseinander und erlautern mogliche Auswirkungen auf das jeweilige Marktergebnis. In diesem Zusammenhang werden auch individuelle Bedurfnisse und soziale Motive wie Kontrollerleben, Harmonie, sowie Prestige neben dem Gewinnstreben Gegenstand der nachfolgenden Ausfuhrungen sein. Allerdings spielt die Behavioral Finance als relativ neuer Forschungsansatz sowohl in der Wissenschaft als auch im praktischen Einsatz bisher eine untergeordnete Rolle und stellt lediglich eine Erganzung zur modernen Kapitalmarktforschung dar.
