Synopses & Reviews
The Cengage Learning DISCOVERY SERIES: INTRODUCTION TO PSYCHOLOGY is designed to deliver traditional course content in an innovative hybrid learning format--instruction presented in a printed book paired with integrated online applications and assessments. The program promotes measurable mastery of core course learning objectives by guiding students' active engagement with content delivered through the book, images, video, simulations, and assessments. This contemporary approach to learning seamlessly integrates text and technology, enabling students to easily move from the book's instruction to its online applications for a deeper, lasting understanding of the core psychological concepts, and for assessments that reliably track students' progress and performance.

"A great idea, with a nice integration of textual and online learning materials connecting the concepts students read about to online visuals and self-assessments. . . . This will serve as a great addition to hybrid and online courses! Students won't need to purchase a study guide, as this one has one built in the text!"Pamela Costa, Ph.D., Tacoma Community College

About the Author
Rod Plotnik earned his Ph.D. as a biological psychologist from the University of Florida and a post doctorate at Yale University. Early in his career, he realized the effectiveness of teaching students through visuals to get them excited about the material, a technique he utilizes throughout INTRODUCTION TO PSYCHOLOGY, now in its Tenth Edition (Cengage Learning, 2014). Haig Kouyoumdjian's interest in psychology was sparked when he used Rod Plotnik's INTRODUCTION TO PSYCHOLOGY in his first psychology course. He later received a Master of Arts in psychology at San Diego State University, where he had the opportunity to work closely with Rod Plotnik, who at the time was a professor in the department and supervisor of the graduate teaching associates training program. Dr. Kouyoumdjian later earned his Ph.D. as a clinical psychologist from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He has been teaching undergraduate psychology courses and authoring introductory psychology textbooks ever since.
