This book was conceived as a tribute to the memory and legacy of Eloi Monod, whose vibrant and inventive designs and highly skilled craftsmanship redefined the world of glassmaking. The story of the Biot glassworks began in 1956 in the South of France, when ceramics engineer Eloi Monod invented a revolutionary technique to make glass in which trapped bubbles catch and refract the light. Eloi Monod and his wife Luce then went on to share their knowledge and trained a whole generation of talented glassmakers. In the magical fires of Biot glassworks, they inspired a renewal of this art in France, and earned Biot an international reputation.
