Synopsis
Ante el desaf o que presenta la conciliaci n de la conservaci n de la naturaleza con el desarrollo econ mico, el manejo diversificado de los bosques tropicales se presenta como una estrategia con grandes posibilidades de xito para alcanzar ambos objetivos. La explotaci n comercial de diferentes productos y servicios favorecer a su valorizaci n econ mica por diferentes actores, generando incentivos para no sustituir los bosques por otros usos del suelo y proporcionando posibilidades de desarrollo a las poblaciones locales. Las especies de uso m ltiple, que proporcionan tanto madera como productos no madereros, conforman un caso particular dentro de este marco de estudio. Este trabajo analiza la problem tica asociada a estas especies en la Amazon a Oriental y, a trav s del estudio de caso de una comunidad riberinha tradicional, profundiza en la percepci n de las poblaciones locales sobre el conflicto de uso asociado a stas. De esta manera se arroja algo de luz sobre la visi n de una parte importante de los usuarios del bosque, la cual habitualmente no es tenida en cuenta a la hora de dise ar las pol ticas p blicas y l neas de investigaci n que afectan a estos recursos.
