Synopses & Reviews
Hendrik Tillema (1870-1952) was a well-known Dutch writer and traveller who devoted much of his distinguished career as a hygienist to the study of what was then the Netherlands, East Indies, and Borneo in particular. This is the first English-language edition of Tillema's most important work
on Borneo, which was originally published in 1938. The 255 photographs, taken by the author himself, are a remarkable feature of this insightful and sympathetic portrayal of the life and culture of Borneo and the Dayak way of life.
