Synopsis
Este trabajo presenta la evaluaci n de la actividad antibacteriana y amebicida de tres especies de an s (Illicium verum, Illicium anisatum, Pimpinella anisum) contra microorganismos de importancia m dica, como una alternativa natural y asi avalar cient ficamente su uso como tratamiento natural. En a os recientes, la poblaci n mundial ha aumentado su inter s en usar drogas naturales y terapias alternativas obtenidas de plantas como infusiones herbales, extractos etan licos, metan licos, clorof rmicos, tinturas, suplementos alimenticios, fitofarmac uticos y productos farmac uticos (American Medical Association, 1997). M xico es un pa s en donde su poblaci n tiene una relaci n estrecha en el uso de la medicina tradicional, por tal motivo es de gran importancia aportar cient ficamente evidencias que avalen su empleo, as como con ayuda de la fitoqu mica, determinar las estructuras responsables de la actividad biol gica y encontrar las posibles aplicaciones. Lo que puede permitir una mayor disponibilidad de agentes quimioterap uticos que sean m s efectivos, menos t xicos y que ofrezcan un menor costo del tratamiento en regiones end micas.
