Der Fehlzeiten-Report, der vom Wissenschaftlichen Institut der AOK (WIdO) und der Universität Bielefeld herausgegeben wird, informiert jährlich umfassend über die Krankenstandsentwicklung in der deutschen Wirtschaft. Er beleuchtet detailliert das Arbeitsunfähigkeitsgeschehen in den einzelnen Branchen und stellt aktuelle Befunde und Bewertungen zu den Gründen und Mustern von Fehlzeiten in Betrieben vor. Dies ist die zehnte Ausgabe des Fehlzeiten-Reports. Was liegt angesichts dieser Jubilaumsausgabe naher, als sich mit der Frage nach dem Sozialkapital sowie Kosten und Nutzen von betrieblichem Gesundheitsmanagement zu beschaftigen? Seit dem Erscheinen des ersten Bandes im Jahre 1999 hat das Interesse am Thema Arbeit und Gesundheit hierzulande stetig zugenommen. War betriebliches Gesundheitsmanagement damals als Begriff noch relativ unbekannt, wird es heute in einer grossen und immer weiter wachsenden Zahl von Unternehmen praktiziert und kontinuierlich verbessert. Mit dem Fehlzeiten-Report konnten wir diese Entwicklung wiss- schaftlich fundiert begleiten und unterstutzen. In seinem Schwerpunkt gibt der Fehlzeiten-Report 2008 einen Uberblick uber den aktuellen Forschungsstand zur Evidenzbasis von Massnahmen der betrieblichen Gesundheitsforderung und Pravention und zeigt auf, wie der wirtschaftliche und gesundheitliche Nutzen von betrieblichen Gesundheitsmassnahmen aus der Sicht von Unternehmen und Arbeitnehmern bewertet wird. Jahrelang konzentrierten sich die Forschungsarbeiten zum Thema Arbeit und Gesundheit auf die Schnittstelle Mensch Maschine sowie auf die schadigenden Auswirkungen unzureichender Qualifizierung und zu ger- ger Handlungsspielraume. Mit der Ottawa Charta der WHO zur Gesundheitsforderung nahm das Interesse an gesundheitsfordernden Arbeitsbedingungen und Moglichkeiten ihrer Implementierung stetig zu. Jungere Forschungsarbeiten beschaftigen sich inzwischen verstarkt mit der Schnittstelle Mensch Mensch, dem so genannten Sozialkapital. Das Sozialkapitalkonzept zielt auf die Grundlage menschengerechter Kooperation wie einen vertrauensvollen Umgang, gegenseitige Wertschatzung und gemeinsame Uberzeugungen, Werte und Regeln. Werden diese Aspekte in Unternehmen nicht gepflegt, haufen sich Missverstandnisse und Konflikte, sinken Qualitat und Produktivitat sowie Unternehmensbindung und Gesundheit."
