Synopses & Reviews
These new essays, by some of the world's foremost Eliot scholars, include a study of Eliot's allegiance to the American and British traditions, and two explorations of the ambivalent nature of Eliot's relationship to Indian thought and sources. Several essays deal with Four Quartets and there are analyses of Eliot's early fascination with, and criticism of, F.H. Bradley; the use of visual form in the poetry; Eliot's poetic language; and his continuing preoccupation with the relationship of belief to poetry.
