Synopsis
Footsteps to Freedom describes a young Iranian persecution as a university student, the abuse inflicted by fundamentalist Islamic Police on his friends and society before he made a momentous decision to leave Iran and seek freedom. In the hands of people smugglers, he nearly dies in Turkish mountains, almost succumbs to starvation in Istanbul's detained and interrogated in Russia before a flight to Holland and then after months of frustration, finally arrives in Canada. This intimate portrait of despair and resolve shows how his hope and persistence ultimately prevail.
