Synopsis
A boy discovers he's heir to an ancient legacy in this riotously funny, epic adventure--perfect for fans of Rick Riordan Greg Belmont is pretty content with being ordinary. He's got exactly one friend at his swanky Chicago prep school, and one pretty cool dad (even if he's obsessed with obscure health foods and organic soaps). The problem is, Greg isn't ordinary. The day he drinks an ill-fated cup of tea, he suddenly finds himself with some bizarre new abilities and learns the truth: he's one of the dwarves, an ancient people with a legendary, powerful heritage. The magic that the dwarves once wielded is coming back to life--and with it a whole host of dangers. Greg's dad is kidnapped by a murderous troll, and Greg is suddenly flung into training with the others kids of the dwarves' Underground.
Fun as it is to learn magic and dwarf lore, Greg also misses his best friend. Edwin is one of the elves, and therefore NOT to be trusted (or so Greg is told), but Edwin seems to be the only one interested in helping Greg track down his dad. Can their friendship survive thousands of years of bad blood?
