Health Science Career Exploration is designed for the middle school level student who is taking a health occupations career exploration course, and has shown an interest in pursuing a career in the health care field. Coverage includes history, personal qualities of health care workers, ethical responsibilities, introduction to medical terminology, how math is applied in the health science field, an introduction to infection control, vital signs, and first aid. The most prominent part of this book, however, is an introduction to the many health careers available.
Synopsis
Health Science Career Exploration is based on another book by the author, Introduction to Health Science Technology. It will introduce students to the health care industry and will give students an overview of the many career choices that exist within the health care industry.
About the Author
Louise Simmers received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Maryland and a Masters degree in Education from Kent State University. She has worked as a public health nurse, a medical-surgical nurse, coronary care nurse and an instructor of Practical Nursing and Diversified Health Occupations. Louise has received the Vocational Educator of the Year award and the Diversified Health Occupations Instructor of the Year Award for the state of Ohio.
