Synopsis
This book traces the careers of these exceptional female pilots from all over the world, from the first woman to board a plane, to the accomplished pilots and astronauts of today. In the early days of aviation, the decision to become a pilot was not one to be taken lightly. The women who embarked upon this adventurous career had to demonstrate boldness, dedication and patience. The names of many women who contributed to aviation history have inevitably been forgotten – apart from a few who achieved iconic status, such as Amelia Earhart and Amy Johnson.
