Use deliberate fragments only in appropriate situations. Edit any accidental fragments. 55. Subject/Verb Agreement Be sure the verb agrees with its subject, not with intervening phrases or modifiers. Dont be fooled by complicated subjects. Use a dictionary to confirm whether an indefinite pronoun is singular, plural or variable. Be consistent with collective nouns. 56. Irregular Verbs 57. Pronoun/Antecedent Agreement Check the number of indefinite pronouns. Treat collective nouns consistently 58. Pronoun References Clarify any confusing pronoun antecedent. Make sure a pronoun has a plausible antecedent. Dont leave the antecedent of this or that deliberately vague. 59. Pronoun Case Use the objective case after prepositions.
