Synopsis
The historical romance of Hubert's Arthur, now printed for the first time, is, as the pseudonym of "Prospero and Caliban" indicates, is the result of a collaboration. The name "Prospero" masks the pen of Frederick William Rolfe; that of "Caliban" being Mr. C.H.C. Pirie-Gordon. Hubert's Arthur is the only one of Rolfe's historical works which has an English background. It is a remarkable work, an unusual fear in English prose-narrative which would have interested George Moore had he lived to read.
