Este libro aborda el impacto de la actividad petrolera en la vegetaci n del rido patag nico, encontr ndose Schinus marchandii(molle), de inter s ornamental, medicinal, forrajero y ecol gico que crece en zonas de intensa acci n antr pica (ganader a, industria petrolera) donde el descontrolado uso como le a provoca la progresiva desertificaci n. El disturbio extremo se encuentra en sitios de exploraci n y explotaci n petrolera.Los derrames accidentales generan la salinizaci n del suelo y la acumulaci n de productos fitot xicos que devastan la vegetaci n.Los espec menes analizados registran la ausencia de alteraciones morfol gicas y anat micas, confirmando su considerable grado de tolerancia para crecer en reas contaminadas con petr leo. Las conclusiones son de importancia por tratarse de especies aut ctonas que se desarrollan en suelos contaminados y frenan la creciente desertificaci n. La informaci n obtenida es una herramienta para abordar la protecci n de la biodiversidad nativa y recuperaci n de zonas degradadas. Esta investigaci n es un aporte genuino a la conservaci n del potencial recurso nativo en la elaboraci n de programas de reforestaci n en reas con des rdenes ecol gicos
