Synopses & Reviews
With its large 12" x 12" surface the LP record jacket provided a great canvas with which to ignite the artist's imagination. In Search of The Lost Record is an incredible collection of art that belongs to a genre that is undoubtedly headed for extinction. Many of these jackets have become valuable collector's items. The book is divided into short thematic segments such as psychedelic, exoticism, nude, lettering, illustrations, and nonsense and humor. Artists featured include Marcus Keef who designed for rock legends Black Sabbath and Status Quo, Hipgnosis who designed for Genesis and Led Zeppelin; and Klaus Voormann who designed for The Beatles. One section of the book is dedicated to record labels and features Harvest, Columbia, Decca, Penny Farthing, Neon, RCA, Chrysalis, Ebony, and many more.
