"Acraman's graphics combine a polished digital aesthetic with playfully anthropomorphic characters, including three stylized birds perched on a tree and endearing rabbits wearing "hachimaki" bandannas. Accessible verses and bright, welcoming pictures should have cross-cultural appeal while aiding in language learning." and#8212;andlt;bandgt;andlt;iandgt;Publishers Weeklyandlt;/iandgt;andlt;/bandgt;

"They include authentically childlike celebrations of rabbits dancing, carp streamers "swimming happily in the air" and falling rain. There are also wistful memories of "My Hometown" and a festival song that begins, 'Our village guardian god's generosity / Is what we celebrate on this joyous day / Boom boom, whistle whistle'." and#8212;andlt;bandgt;andlt;iandgt;Kirkus Reviewsandlt;/iandgt;andlt;/bandgt;

"Danielle Wright first began collecting nursery rhymes from around the world for her son in 2005. "The spacious format gives the art a chance to perform its magic. Pure saturated colorsand#8212;honey yellows, tomato reds, and heavenly bluesand#8212;are the backdrops for pictures that have the effect of woodcuts. The poems themselves showoff the charm and delicacy Wright discusses in her introduction." and#8212;andlt;bandgt;andlt;iandgt;Booklistandlt;/iandgt;andlt;/bandgt;

"It would be an understatement to say that my son is obsessed with nursery rhymes in all three languages. It was great to find a book with English translations of some of the traditional Japanese songs that he particularly favors such as "Koi nobori"and#8212; carp streamers and "Shabondama"and#8212;bubbles. The English translation is adapted to the melody so I can sing it too. The book comes with a CD and each song is performed in both languages. The illustrations are adorable! A very useful and stylish addition to my growing collection of children's books." and#8212;andlt;bandgt;Tokyoholicandlt;/bandgt;
