Synopsis
After a long career in a government job, Edna McCall decided that her post-retirement life would be more than sitting around the house knitting, playing bingo, and going for coffee with friends and neighbours. Despite having a working life of nine to five, her world had always been full of shenanigans and fun.
While attending a friend's wedding, Edna saw how much joy the marriage ceremony brought the couple and knew that she had to become a marriage commissioner in her post-retirement life. Since, Edna has performed more than 2,000 ceremonies attended by more than 7,000 guests at one wedding.
For the first time, Edna McCall shares some of her favorite stories from her time as marriage commissioner. From multicultural and medieval ceremonies to the marrying of bikers and Harry Potter fans, she's witnessed the best and the craziest that weddings have to offer. With plenty of falls and accidents, near-mishaps, and hysterical one-liners, Edna McCall has managed to turn the job of marriage commissioner into an exhilarating career full of gut-wrenching laughs and misadventures.
Raw, amusing, and emotional, Lady Father offers a behind-the-scenes view of the life of a marriage commissioner and just how much love (and laughter) there is to be shared.
