Si la recherche consid re traditionnellement le fran ais comme une langue monocentrique, de r centes tudes portant sur les normes (de prononciation) en Suisse et au Qu bec remettent actuellement cette affirmation en question. Dans cet ouvrage, la pluralit des normes de prononciation est abord e pour la premi re fois pour trois r gions diff rentes et sur la base d'une combinaison de trois m thodes. Le cas de Paris en tant que traditionnel centre de la francophonie est compar ceux des p riph ries qu b coise et suisse romande sur la base d'une analyse des productions de 60 journalistes-pr sentateurs, consid r s comme des locuteurs-mod les, combin e des tests de perception et une enqu te par questionnaires sur les repr sentations de 288 informateurs non experts. Les r sultats montrent que si, en Europe, il est difficile de consid rer l'existence d'une norme de prononciation suisse romande stable parall le celle de Paris, l'ind pendance recrudescente d'un nouveau centre normatif qu b cois sur le continent am ricain est ind niable. Ces r sultats remettent en cause la pr sum e exception sociolinguistique du fran ais et impliquent une red finition du concept de norme de r f rence dans un sens pluricentrique.
