The nation's most prominent Republican shares the principles that have governed his life -- both personal and political -- and the lessons he has learned along the way.
Dear Friend,
In the summer of 1995, I worked closely with many of you in the publication of To Renew America. Beyond the gratifying success we achieved with a number one bestseller, I recall warmly the help and the friendly support I received from everyone at HarperCollins and the enthusiasm of booksellers across America.
Now I'm delighted to let you know that I am currently immersed in writing a new book. I see this new book as my personal report to millions of Americans who helped us survive the last few years. The book will include a candid appraisal of some of the most challenging moments of my career, including the circumstances that led to the resignation of Speaker Jim Wright, my own encounter with the House Ethics Committee, the truth behind my comments about Air Force One, and my personal reaction to the so-called coup efforts in the House Republican majority.
Sincerely,
Newt
