Synopses & Reviews
This volume covers the period October 1916 to June 1921, which was a time of great anguish for Lawrence. He was intensely depressed by the war, and he was even accused of being a German spy. Following the prosecution of \[I\]The Rainbow\[/I\], he found it extremely hard to find a publisher for its sequel, \[I\]Women in Love\[/I\]. It was during this time that he decided on leaving England permanently.
