About the Author
Michael Yamashita has combined his two passions, photography and travel, as a regular contributor to National Geographic since 1979, working in such diverse locations as Somalia, Sudan, England, Ireland, and New Guinea. He has traveled to six continents, but Asia is his special area of concentration. He has received numerous professional awards, including the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) Pictures of the Year Competition, New York Art Director's Club; Asian-American Journalists Association (AAJA); and the Pacific Area Travel Association (PATA).
gianni guadalupi, born in 1943, has worked for 30 years as a writer, translator, and anthology editor, dealing in particular with non-fiction and fiction travel writing.
For White Star Publishers he has written The Discovery of the Nile (1997), China Revealed, The Holy Bible (2003) and has edited The World's Greatest Treasures (1998) and collaborated on the historical chapters of the wild-life series The Art of Being.
