Synopsis
Excerpt from Medical Climatology: Or, a Topographical and Meteorological Description of the Localities Resorted to in Winter and Summer by Invalids of Various Classes, Both at Home and Abroad
The benign influence of change of climate upon certain varieties of disease is now so generally acknowledged by Medical Practitioners, and so thoroughly appreciated by those to whose sufferings it has administered relief, that to press upon the reader its manifold claims to his attention would be superfluous. The medical profession owes much to Sir James Clark for his invaluable services in rescuing this branch of Medical Philosophy from the state of un merited neglect into which it had lapsed, and for raising it to the position which it now holds in the ranks of prophy lactic, and therapeutic medicine. The' long period which has been, allowed to pass since his valuable work entered the category of rare books is probably due to the increasing labours which ever attend the paths of those who are will ing to further the interests of the profession to which they are attached. Had it been otherwise this book would not have appeared.
