About the Author
Jeanine Meyer has been a resident of Mt. Kisco, New York, living on Grove Street, since 1978 when she moved up from Brooklyn to work at IBM Research in robotics. She continued working at IBM as a research staff member, manager, and research consultant for educational grants until 1993. She then taught at Pace University, both in Westchester and New York City, and moved to Purchase College/State University of New York in 2001. She is a tenured, full professor, coordinator of the Mathematics/Computer Science Board of Study and a member of the New Media Board of Study. She is the author of four textbooks and numerous academic papers and makes presentations at conferences on a variety of topics. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi, Association for Women in Science, Association of Computing Machinery, and a featured reviewer for ACM Computing Reviews. Jeanine received an S.B. in mathematics from the University of Chicago; an M.A. in mathematics from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in computer science from New York University. She lives with her mother and her daughter, who spoil her by preparing excellent food and playing music for her (mostly piano and some flute). She enjoys origami, gardening, knitting and crocheting, cooking and eating, reading novels and travel. She does aerobics if pressed and has enjoyed hiking. She presently is working on building the Hudson Trail, a long hiking trail from Manhattan to Mt. Marcy (see our blog: hudsontrail.wordpress.com).
