About the Author
The New York Times called Stanley Newmanthe Alfred A. Knopf of crossword puzzles. Winner of the first U.S. Open Crossword Championship in 1982, he has been a puzzle creator, editor, publisher, syndicator, and mail-order bookseller. From 1993-2000 he headed Random Houses Puzzles &Games imprint, publishing over 200 titles from sources such as "The New York Times", "Washington Post", and "Games" magazine. Author/editor of more than 70 books, since 1988 he has been crossword editor for Newsday, with puzzles syndicated to over 100 daily, Sunday, and internet newspapers worldwide. Media apearances include GMA, CBS Evening News, AP Radio Network, People, the New York Times, and more. He holds the worlds record for the fastest completion of a "New York Times" crossword (2 min, 14 sec). He lives in Massapequa Park, NY.
