Synopsis
In the late sixteenth century, Cassiano dal Pozzo began a 'paper museum', collecting watercolours and prints reflecting his interests as an antiquary and natural scientist. This volume of the catalogue includes 162 illustrations of the interiors of early Christian churches in Rome. Since the illustrations were made, much of the information they contain has been lost. Each item is illustrated and discussed with refernces to the subject and other drawings. A unique and invaluable guide to the early churches of Rome.
