SAMPLE REVIEW COMMENTS: - Guy Dubay, historian, writer and professor / historien, auteur, professeur.
I cannot say enough about ..." the depth and quality of this volume of history of our primitive and later mills on both sides of the St. John River."
"...This work has a comprehensiveness never heretofore covered as thoroughly and extensively as does 'Moulins du Madawaska/Mills of Madawaska'. "While Theriault's first book, 'Destination Madawaska', published in 2009 revealed this authors orientation to our history, this present work demonstrates how much that he is an historian "pure laine".
"This book will become "the Bible of our Industrial Story" Traduction:

"I now understand why this immense work has taken so many years to accomplish.
This work allows us to realize the importance of the mills in Madawaska, on both sides of the Saint John River, of families involved in the field of sawmills, flour mills and card mills.
This book will be the Mill Bible in Madawaska.
From the dawn of the Acadian era in the Madawaska territory, the flourmills, sawmills, and wool carding mills were among the first to be built to produce the food, shelter, and clothing necessary to sustain the local community. It was the family of Pierre Thibodeau, the miller of Port Royal, Acadia who came to the St John Valley with the mill technology necessary to begin the process of building the necessary mills in the new communities such as the Theriault Mill in Baker Brook, New Brunswick where Joseph and his son Joachim provided for their village for many years.
The first volume of this book focuses on the family culture and history of twelve of the early mills in the St John Valley while the second volume is a detailed compilation of the 250 historic family and commercial mills that existed in the St John Valley from 1785 to 1985. Volume 1 focuses on the relationship between the local miller and his neighbors and customers, and how the knowledge and technology of the mills was transferred between generations and between families.
